Default Questions on Steel Wheel Center Caps...

Please forgive my ignorance... I have but two questions regarding center caps.

#1 Can someone please advise on the diameter of the steel wheel center caps?

#2 I have seen Red, Blue and Black. Can someone please explain the variations/reasons for the different colors? Different car models, engine sizes, wheel sizes, or simply color options to match the car?

Much appreciated!

Hi, first they have an outer diameter of 2.5". Second, I know red was used in 65 and 66, blue was used in 67, and in 68 they completely changed them so they had I believe 18 or 20 small holes around the edge, and a plain or GT center hubcap. Below are pictures. The red is the original style for 1965 & 1966, but they do make replicas with black and blue backrounds. Then below is the original style 1967 blue style, but again they make repros with red or black backgrounds.

Good stuff. Digging further into the "super-highway" I did find that the round seem to have been produced for 64-66 and the "notched" for 67. No explanation for the color options? Maybe I am over-complicating, thinking Ford was up to something with Red, Blue and Black.
