Question What would a paint job cost for my 1966 Mustang?

Hey Guys my name is Ashton i have a 66 mustang and im wondering if anybody could give me a estimate on how much a full paint job and repair of minor rust flaws would be.

How good of a paint job are you looking for because that is where prices can be different. You can get a maaco paint job for a few hundred bucks and do the rust work yourself or get a few thousand dollar paintjob. Either way you get what you pay for when it comes to paint.

Dont let anyone tell ya different, MACCO is the way to go. I was modest and kinda scared when i wanted to get my pony painted, my friend who's dad has a shop, said to have a nice paint job would cost around 7 grand! I paid less for the car itself. So i had 2 choices, Earl Shibe, or macco. I heard from my old man that earl shibe was garbage, so i went to macco. I didnt even get the top of the line paint job, and it turned out awesome.

I picked the middle one, when it came to the price and the paint, so it wasnt the cheapest, but it wasnt the best. And it turned out frickin' great! I had one dent about the size of a basketball, and a couple smaller baseball size ones, which they pulled for me, a little bit of rust, which they also got taken care of. Alltogether it was about $900, and it was well worth it.. check my pics & good luck!

Maaco charges a $1006 dollars for there cheapest paint job up here and that just for paint. No bodywork or rust removal. Try to do most of the work yourself and that will cost your cost by more than half. I have found that if you can join a car club you can get a really good job done at a discounted price by other members or sponsors of the club.

We painted The 66 ourselves. Materials are not not cheap for paint though. Spent about $800 total for 2k epoxy, 2k high build primer, basecoat and clearcoat. Some basecoats will run you 800 for 1 gallon!
Depends on what you want I guess. Might not make sense to spend 8k on a daily driver that is worth 6k.
If you have the ambition and WANT to paint your own car I say go for it. You will need a place or garage to do not to mention the time to do it right.
Good luck and be safe

Can anyone speak to the flat black paint on the hood of a '69? I am considering having it repainted with an easier upkeep alternative but not sure if it really makes a difference in points when showing it. I also have a few places that need touching up. Does the whole car need to be repainted?

wow! really! i thought macco was the same all over, but it must go by state, because the cheapest service (just paint) by me is like 500, middle is 700, and the highest is like 1000, i got the 700 job, and after labor cost, prep, and all that other bs (they charged me $40 to pull 5 dents and remove rust), it came out to like $ 913, like i said, money well spent....
