Question Help Decipher Engine Tag

Have searched the web but can't find how to decipher the engine tag. It's a small metal tag attached to the engine by the carb.

I know there is a number by the starter but would like to find out what the tag means. The code is as follows:

269 E 68 16
F8 K 236-J

Appreciate any help.

Hello.
The top row means that you have a 289, built in Ensite, Ontario, intended for a 68 model car, with design change level 16. The bottom row means it was built on June 8th, the K 236-J is the engine code, which means that it was a non-thermactor 289 2bbl. Hope that helps.

I found this a while back. Save it for future reference.
