Default 1969 Mustang Mach 1-Need manual on original paint technique

Restoring a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 produced from San Jose plant. I was wondering if there is a book or a manual to properly reproduce the factory oversprays and undercoating procedure. I took pictures of the disassembly of car but computer crashed and lost most of them. I have seen cars that are restored and from my own personal experience they are not correct. Most use a red oxide bottom which mine was body color. I need to know what they sprayed in rear wheel wells. Also the front inner fenders and any over spray in front engine bay, radiator support etc. Hope there is just a book, if not good personal experts will work. Thanks

Hello. A San Jose car would have had red oxide on the undercarriage. None of them had the floors painted body color. The MCA judging rules book would be very helpful to you as far as the overspray and stuff goes. Hope that helps.

I didn't know if it applied to '69, but I know that is how my '66 San Jose came to me in 1982. Under all that dirt and grunge there was red stuff.

Didn't the other assembly plants do the same?

Hi again. A Dearborn or Metuchan car would have been black on the floors in 66. I have heard from generally reliable people that in 69 the floors of some of the Dearborn cars were painted with the same vat paint as the cowl braces, hood latch bracket, etc... but I have never actually seen that myself, so, I'm not sure about that.
