found a tag on the passenger side fender under the hood that I had over looked tha tag has in the upper rt hand corner "65"

Can some one tell me what these nubers are? I think I've decoded then but am not sure. Especially the "OT" and "F153915"

Also how is the best way to check the gear ratio of the rear end that is in my car now? I wouyld like to change it out and make it better for distance driving.....Oh yeah, if the "1" stands for 3 speed manual, then the transmission has been changed to a 4 speed.

Not sure about your numbers, but re the diff ratio:
Basically you need to count how many times the driveshaft rotates to one full turn of the rear wheels.
If you can get the car over a pit, use some chalk to mark the positions. You can use a hoist or jack the rear up but then you have to make sure both wheels do a full circle.
