Default Whats the significance of a 2+2 mustang

I've got this 65 fastback that is a 2+2, according to the emblems. What does it mean and / or stand for?

I believe that the 2+2 Mustangs signify the fastback instead of the coupe or convertible.

2 seats plus 2 seats when you fold down the back seat.

From what I've heard, Mustang didn't make a "fastback" until '67. In '65 & '66 they made the 2+2 (as mentioned above for the two front seats and two rear, fold-down, seats).

In 1965 Ford launched the Mustang fastback, badged as a 2+2, 2 people in the front and 2 in the back, although technically all Mustangs were 2+2s, because they all had 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. Then in the late 60's early 70's they renamed the Fastbacks the "Sportsroof".

It does denote a fastback, and does signify 2 in front and 2 in the back. However, I have seen many without the 2+2 badging. My question is what determined which fastback (in 65 or 66) got the 2+2 badging? Was it only the 6 cylinder cars?

It was merely marketing gimmick..nothing more.

The Mustang Fastback was more sporty than a family car that fit 2-3 in the front and 3 in the back. It was marketed toward several facets of society.
Thus 2 + 2.

Shall I bring out some original advertising and post it ?

Like thay said, it just denotes 2 seats + two in the back, some fastbacks had the badges, some didn't.same cars. the 65/66 fastbacks weren't true fastbacks............as in the rear sloped at angle...in 67/68 the rear roofline incorporated the trunk decklid.......in 67/68 the cars became true fastbacks, followed by the Sportsroofs in 1969 & on.
