Default painted engine today

I finall got the last painting and clean up done today under the hood, It makes a big difference under the hood.I liked the darker Ford Blue better than the lighter color.

about 2 weeks of wire wheeling , hand sanding, a little patch work with some metal. I just rattle canned all of it. It did clean things up
for a cruiser.

Default engine paint

Looks like you did a real nice job. Only question I have is if that is the correct color for the engine? I have a 65 with the 200c.i. six and I could swear that I have read that the correct color is red.

I believe the correct color for a 65 is red and a 66 is blue.

I have a '67 with the 200 also (now 204) and the correct color for that engine is Ford Blue. Now there is new Ford Blue which is '71 and up (i believe) and old Ford Blue. The lighter color on the piece that wasn't repainted on the left side of the engine is the new Ford Blue I believe. I used the same color that he did.

I am in the middle of painting my engine & bay (66 289). I went to NAPA and bought Duplicolor Dark Ford Blue. It did not match the blue on my valve covers and engine (way lighter - looks like older 65 Ford Blue). What paint do I need to keep original color on my 66? Check pics (I did not shave that day - JK)...

Also, I am installing new/old 66 4 barrel original intake manifold with original rebuilt 66 4100 autolite (replacing the 2v original).

When I received the rebuilt carb and cleaned up intake manifold (blasted & painted) it turned out like ford blue I am reffering above, way lighter than my current color. I was going to paint that first and noticed when sprayed that the color was exactly the same... not one shade darker! Darn...

Anyway, I need to find me the dark ford blue soon.

(by no means do I want to hijack your thread - I just want to piggyback off of it, if ok?)

Thanks in advance!

Man... I'm just realizing that I might have the wrong color on my engine and valve covers. All 66 289's I have seen out there and online have a lighter blue (I guess the Dark Ford Blue we have been talking about?).

Engine was rebuilt in 1995 by original owner. She took it into a Ford dealership in Los Angeles somewhere. It could be that the new engine was painted darker than original "Ford Dark Blue"?

Anyways, I am thinking of painting it original "Ford Dark Blue" now.

I have a few cans of Duplicolor Ford Dark Blue (1606).

What you guys think?

thx
