Cool 1965 Mustang coupe rear seat.

Hello everyone,

have this 1965 Stang, need to change the rear shocks, and was thinking about removing the back seat in order to get to the top of the shocks.
Before I break anything, any tips regarding removal procedure.
Many thanks

removing the rear seat should be easy the bottom just lifts up and out and then there should be 2 bolts in the bottom of the back part which must be taken out and then the back should lift straight up out. My backseat has been in and out so many i don't even bother to put the bolts in and it only takes a minute to remove. As far as the shocks i don't know much about that. I don't remember how i did mine.

I had to climb into the trunk and have someone hold the shock from spinning on the outside down under the car. It isn't that bad if you have someone to help. Not sure how bad it would be by yourself. It only takes a few minutes if you remove the tires and have someone to help.

Just make sure you don't lift the bottom part of the seat to high. If you do like i did the first time, it could scratch the side panels.

Thanks for the replies. Will give it a try...Seems like the accessibility to the rear shocks from the top is a bit of a pain.

Hello. If you don't have someone to hold the bottom of the shock while you remove the nut from the top, you can use a big pipe wrench as your 'assistant'. Just clamp it onto the lower portion of the shock and spin it around and wedge it onto something under the car.

Thanks for everyones input. Another issue at hand i need some help with.
Gas gauge and temp readout has inconsistencies. Fluctuates from giving me an accurate reading to completely showing nothing. Think the voltage regulator on the back of the instrument panelhas been changed out so i am wondering what else it could be. Sending unit possibly? Help is once again greatly appreciated.
