Default 1966 Mustang Suspension Rebuild Question

Hello,

My all original '66 is in need of a suspension rebuild and I welcome input on rebuild kit suppliers that you would recommend. I have the original equipment on the car and it needs to be re-done front and back after all these years. I'm also thinking about adding a sway bar for more stability. Any input on what to do and what to avoid is most welcome!

I have done this front end rebuild in my 1966 coupe. I went with the front end kit from dallas mustang for about 300 dollars. The swap was pretty straight forward, you just have to make sure you have the right tools. Make sure the spring compressor is one that goes inside the spring and also make sure it is as perfectly lined up as you can. I had a spring compressor pop off 4 times while i was working on it. Believe me, its not a thing to mess around with either. Hope for the best.

You might want to check out OpenTrackRacing. Despite the name they can put together a very nice street-drive package that is competitive with Mustang catalog suppliers. Talk to John

I second the roller perches - a little expensive but worth it. You should also replace the stock sway bar in the front with a 1". The springs front and rear depend on how you want to use the car. If it is going to be a daily driver and you want some comfort go with stock on the front springs and rear leafs. If you want a little more performance in cornering (as much as a stock style mustang suspension is capable of!) go with 4.5 or 5 leaf rears and 620 lb springs in the front with something like KYB gas shocks all around.
