Default Thoughts on a 65 Mustang on ebay?

Hello All,
Saw this mustang and was wondering if $5700 is a fair price for this vehicle:

eBay Motors: Ford : Mustang (item 110355444270 end time Mar-01-09 20:27:44 PST)

Thoughts?

Thanks!
-Glenn

If you can get him to sell it at 5700 i wouldn't say it is bad at all but since the reserve was never met who knows how much he wanted.

Who knows what it would really sell for but obviously not $5700. You are in Florida, if it comes up again go look at it. Or maybe you can still go look at it. If the seller won't allow that then forget about the car.

My first thought of any car from Florida would be RUST.

He was looking for $6500... but I have been in discussions since the car didnt sell at auction...

Even assuming $6500, it may be a I6 but it seems to be pretty buttoned up and in decent shape...

Ideally it would be a daily driver (possibly after a disc brake swap).

Thanks for the opinion guys... anyone else?

Hello. That car has been hit really, really hard by something. Hard enough to push the driver's side front inner fender panel in about an inch. The car will have some serious allignment issues, along with front suspension weirdness. With it being a 6 cyl, three speed manual car, I would have to pass on that one. It will be a money pit, and it will be money that you can't possibly recover when you sell it. There are too many good cars out there to by one with big question marks hanging over it.

Thanks for the insight, Veronica. Are you referring to the pic attached? I drew a line where the misalignment may be... if it isnt, im not sure where you see the misalignment..

Hi again. That's the picture. If you look at the pictures of the whole car, you see that the hood is fitted in between the two front fenders pretty well, so it isn't that the fender was just poorly fitted and hanging out. It's the inner fender that's been pushed inward. As far as pointing you toward another car goes, I don't recommend particular cars that I haven't looked at up close and personal, but, that $6500 price is pretty much top dollar for a nice 6 cyl 3-speed car driver. If you look through places like craig's list, Hemmings Motor News, you'll come across one in fairly short order. The thing to remember about looking at an old mustang is that what you see over-rides what you are told by the person trying to sell the car to you. A person will tell you ' Never been wrecked' because that's just what people do. It's like asking 'How have you been?' It's a greeting, not a question. It means nothing.

Thumbs up

Thanks much Veronica! I appreciate the insight... Unfortunately, Ive been bitten by the mustang bug... My first wheels was a 69 coupe. I've regretted getting rid of the car for the past 10 years but what can you do... It's pretty easy to be blinded by a mustang n good shape...

Veronica,

Good catch. I looked at that particular photo last night and didn't understand what I saw except something wasn't right. There is a photo showing the fender bolts for the passenger's side but none for the driver's side. Isn't that a weld bead holding the driver's front fender in place since the inner fender is too far away for the 6 bolts to be useful? I first thought it was a rust line, but now I think its a nicely executed weld. That's sort of like saying your executioner did a very nice job, but...
