For performance i would say the 4 speed is the best for the price. The overdrives on the t5's are nice on highway cruising though. Install it yourself and its free Does it have a 3 speed in it now or automatic? The automatic to 4 speed is much more complicated though.

What do u have right now? I got my c4 rebuild and it can handle 1200 hp now. I also paid 2800$ But they have rebuild kits that can handle like 500hp for 1200$.
As for install call around to some local small tranny shops I found a tranny guy in an industrial area and he'll do any job for cheap and fast. He did my exhaust for me. Some small shops are hurting right now

If You are extremely lucky to get one under 1,000.00 that doesn't need work, then You could say that they are cheap. Most all the top loaders that I have come across under 500.00 needed around 500.00 worth of work. A rebuilt one (properly done) will be hard to find under a grand. Really look one over before You buy it, if it seems cheap. Their may be some buys out there, but not many.
