Default 1967 Mustang-transmission problems

ahoy; this happened suddenly and there were no previous issues up until that very moment

The car acts as if someone had bumped my shifter knob into neutral, while i'm accelerating, stays "in neutral" momentarily, than kicks back into gear.

My dad suggested that the Transmission filter might need to be replaced, and the transmission oil changed, so im going to try that and hopefully that solves that.

if not what can I do?

I'm praying i don't have to have the transmission replaced/rebuilt. im ******* BROKE. X_x

Check your fluid level, seems obvious, but that can cause it

When you check the automatic it must be in Park with the engine idling. If you check it with the engine off the fluid level will be higher than when it is running. The filter on a C4 is a screen and isn't often replaced - just cleaned.
