Default what are these bidders thinking

i came across this on ebay.

eBay Motors: Ford : Mustang (item 110367135806 end time Mar-28-09 09:30:02 PDT)

what are these bidders thinking ? that is a VERY ambitious repair or an expensive parts car ! look closely you'll see front drum brakes and a T code vin.

It dosent look too bad but they claim its been fully restored before the accident however the pipes look much older than a year. Also the car will never be the same. Crazy. Maybe they wnat it for the interior or rear end or something just for parts. It would be much cheaper than buying all the parts individually.

by the time you replace all the sheetmetal from the firewall forward, add in all the trim, brackets, radiator, and bumper you could buy a nice driver that has not had it's face smashed off. you will need to have the new rails installed on a frame machine if you want the car to track straight. yes it is a great parts car, but the price is a little too much for me for a parts car.

They would make more money just parting out the car. Motor, Trans?, 9" Rearend (Yes), Interior.

The brakes have been converted over to V8 with that car already. If you look real close you can see it's 5 lug front and back.

Getting back to the car itself and the current price of $2500. I looked the pics over the best I could and feel it's actually a good price still...........even if your plans are to fix the car and not part it out. I would rather repair collision damage than a rusted out car. If it's true that the car was fully restored and the rear quaters are solid as the floor is it's not that bad of a car. Plus ad in the interior and drivetrain. The good thing is the doors open and close like he said, from the pics the gaps still look good and the windshield never broke so it does appear the body is still straight. You can see exactly where the front frames rails had kinked and gave way. You can buy complete frame rails with the shock towers and inner fenders welded on now. Everything that car needs is readily available and not bad price wise if you do the repairs yourself, or mostly yourself.

You may even just decide to get another whole front clip from another car and weld it on.

Yes, a frame machine would be the easiest and best bet for getting the frame rails true again. You *could* do it in your garage with building a structure under the car to sit it on while you repair it but it would be a bit more work, has been done before though with people replacing rotted frame rails.

My $.02

shock tower assembly with frame are 495 each, plus fenders 150 ea, hood 125, valence, headlight buckets, grill assembly, radiator and support about 500, then your labor (free), paint and supplies 200-300.
total = the same price as a ready to go driver
that car looks nice, but not "restored". who even knows what the reserve is ? i'm not against saving it, i would do it if it was a little less expensive. but when all is said and done you have a rebuilt wreck that was a six and is now converted to a v8, although nicely done

Did ya'll read the listing? The engine alone is worth $1500-2000 if it is what they claim, also the rear end is worth about 750-1000, it's not worth restoring, but yes for parts for another, perfect
