Default Where to get Windshield Wiper blades

I was wondering, Where can i get wiper blades for my 1968 mustang? I am sure that it is time for some new ones as i cannot think how old they are.

Depends how original you want em. If you want them to just work hit up NAPA, the universal wipers work but you have to remove the original metal blades, which can be a bit annoying. Otherwise NPD (npdlink.com) carries more 'concours' style replacements.

^ bingo!

Conveinent thread

I'm at the same point where I want to replace mine, they are 10-11 years old. I really haven't even used the wipers in 7-8 years either, not when you put less than 1000 miles a year on the car!

Shortly after buying the car I took the black frame blades off and put an original set of the stainless Trico frames on so they would be silver and match what the car came with. These days I've found that the refills aren't being stocked in stores since people just replace the whole frame now. I want to keep my stainless (silver) frames and just use refills. The Mustang suppliers are the easiest places to get the refills only.

EDIT: I just thought of something. NAPA may not have the refills only for those original style wiper frames on the shelf but they should be able to order them. They'll most likely have to get out the book to look them up as they may not be in the computer. Parts like this is where having a NAPA close by is good since the ones I've gone to they have no problem bring out the big books when they can't find something in the computer. The times I've gone to Advanced, Auto Zone and other 'modern' parts places if it's not in the computer they can't help.

If you are talking about just the refills (not the entire blade) - they are becoming hard to find. Many Advance Auto stores only carry the full blade/arm replacement. Seems like Wally World does the same thing - only the full blade replacement.
My local Autozone has them, but they are behind the counter and you have to ask for them.
O'Reilly's Auto Parts and NAPA are the only two local stores here that still have plenty of the blade refills - everybody else wants you to replace the whole blade/arm assembly.

I found an ANCO refill pair with the silver steel pieces and they fit perfect, I just had to open one end of my stock bracket. I'm pretty sure they were part #11-15. I had O'Reilly's order me a pair, if they're not right they just ship them back on the next truck, no charge.

Mil1ion and Andrews4691, there's no actual pics of the wiper blades coming up on your links, are those blades the modern black color or are they the older silver?

Cobra6, I know exactly what you're talking about, the refills are tough to find especially in the smaller sizes for these old cars. I have no O'Rielly's near me, I do have NAPA and Advanced. NAPA is my favorite since they can get me parts for the older cars easier but for the wiper refills they don't stock many, basically they have the larger ones 18"-22", the ones more common to todays vehicles. I haven't seen refills at the Advanced by me, they just have complete wiper blades and different styles for each size.

I have to go to NAPA today to get a new V belts for my bandsaw, I'm going to ask them about the refills for the older silver metal blade frames.

I just looked in the 2008 NPD catalog I have here, don't know where I put the 2009 one, but they do list just the Trico refills for the 65-68 ones (15") for 6.95 each, part # 17593-1 on page 163.

NPD does show the stainless (silver) wiper frames too, 15" for the 65-68, 16" for the 69-70, and 18" for the 71-73 cars.

Ask at different parts stores if they can get the ANCO 11-15, it's just the refill so you get the pair for ~$4 I think it was, I'm going to get 2 sets next time I order. They are the refills with the silver metal strips like stock and look original with the stock stainless frames and arms. Summit lists them but I can't find a pic anywhere, I'll have to snap a pic of mine when I'm home.

.
The classic silver (steel spline)

IIRC, the 43 series is the classic series.

NAPA does offer the refills only, even if they don't stock them they can get them, I got mine today.

The NAPA Exact Fit part # is 60-1512 and they cost $7 for a pair.

We probably have more old cars on the road out here. I just checked and our local NAPA has 3 pair on the shelf for $6/ea. Thanks for the reminder; I think I will go buy some.

Your mileage may vary.
