Default Transmissiom Fluid Leaks

I have a 1965 Mustang with a C4 Automatic Transmission and a 289 engine.

1.) I replaced the rear transmission seal on 12 Feb 09 and since then the car has been sitting on jack stands as I do other work. Today I go under the car and find transmission fluid on my floor. (a small puddle) I further see where the drip is comming from the front universal and slip yoke area. The seal is dry as well as the slip yoke where it joins back to the universal. So can somebody tell me where this fluid is comming from?

2.) I also have a slight leak at my transmission pan, one corner. I torqued it at 13 ft lbs as suggested so why is it leaking. I also put a Fel-Pro gasket on 12 Feb 09. The book says to torque between 12 - 16 ft lbs The seal looks wet all around but thats it. Its a if the gasket absorbs the fluid, I assume this will go away once the car is running and everything heats up.
I was told not to put a gasket seal on the gasket when putting the gasket on the pan. How can I stop the leak?

Would appreciate any help.

Pappy

I also have a transmission pan leak and i am thinking that it leaks because of the bolts in the pan werent set right. They have to be installed like a wheel, going tighter and tighter at opposite ends just like a wheel. I figured the guy who owned my car before me just bolted them in a cirrcular pattern. I hope this would stop the leaks for me.

Yes I did rotate back and forth while tightening.

Your leak is probably coming from the vent.
When the transmission sits for a time the converter can drain back into the pan - it eventually overfills and leaks out on the floor.
