Default What year stang would you get to do a Boss clone

Im looking for a mustang to do a Boss clone. It seems the 69 fast back and 69 boss's bodys look slightly different or is it just me?

Anyways what year would you get? I have the opportunity to pick up a non running 69 fastback for 3500, body is in good shape just needs a motor and tranny some mild interior work.

What Im wanting to do is fix it up and resell it for a small profit.

Any idea how much a boss clone with a 351 CAN go for? If done up right, like say $10k into it after the cost of the car

For a 69 Boss use a 70 body it doesn't have the side scoops

if your going to clone a boss it needs a 302 in it.Unless you want to clone a 71 which was a 351c

Which year body you choose is up to you and your personal taste. The regular 69 sportsroof body has the quarter scoops that had been smoorhed out for the Boss 302. This can be done, but it is not as simple as you might think. You said you could get a 69 body for a reasonable price, I'd probably go that route, I just don't know how much it will cost you to remove the spot for the scoops.

If you are doing a Boss 302 clone, you probably ought to put a 302 in it. More specifically, clone the Boss motor as well, there are numerous articles on how to do this.

To answer your question regarding what you can sell it for, the simple answer is for whatever someone wants to pay. Alot depends on what you started with (motor options, etc.), but, keep in mind a very nice sportsroof is probalby worth between $10K and $15K.
