Default Let's See Your Aftermarket Steering Wheels.

So after driving my 64.5 for a while, something became very obvious...I need to replace the stock steering wheel. The stock one is so large it's almost giving me rug burns on my knee when i drive in shorts.

I've been looking for something aftermarket but I haven't really seen much that I've liked. Especially seeing as I have blue interior.

So... lets see what you guys have.

Grant 1175 on my 67. I like the way it looks and feels.

Don't get a Grant!! I got my Grant wheel installed last July. I had the same one as 65BlueHorse. Well, I noticed that the horns were acting up, and sparks started coming out from under the horn button. Took off the horn button to find that the wires had fried themselves. I taped them off and ignored not having working horns. Then, about a month ago, doing 65mph down Route 60 near my house, the steering wheel pops off into my lap. So, I decided that was it. It is now in a box in my garage. I now have a reproduction of the 66 deluxe woodgrain wheel. I will have to find my camera to update my pictures, as now my car has a woodgrained interior. But I don't have problems with the steering wheel rubbing my legs, but that may be because even though I am 18 I am 6 foot and I have to drive with the seat all the way back.

Very nice looking Stangs!

I think Joey is in the lead. I'm really liking the combination of the gauges and the steering wheel.

Keep the pics coming.

Here's a MotoLita I installed, love the look, still haven't figured out what I'm going to do about a horn but haven't focused on that yet.
It's my favorite upgrade so far as it breaks up the red interior and the polished alum. goes with the brushed alum. and the feel of the wood wheel is great, really gives it that vintage look. Size is fine even with foxbody seats my legs don't rub at 6'1".

The thing with the grants is you have to be really careful when you install them, once everything is good, remember to lube the contact points, put it all back together, and locktite blue the mounting nut. Getting it tight enough can be tricky, I made a plate to bolt to the 3 mounting screw holes to hold onto while I tightened down the main nut. Every so often take it apart, relube those contacts (like every 20k) and you won't have any problems.

I am running a lecarra with an Ididit polished tilt column. I like it, love the feel of it. and the tilt feature makes it nice for those of us larger individuals. mdmp_0811_07_z+1965_mustang_coupe+steering_wheel pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots
