i got mine from ebay. sold my cuda and wanted something else before money got sucked up by some home project etc. threw out a bid and i won. wasn't what i really wanted but now i love it. currently getting a 351W/T5 transplant. check RacingJunk.com, Ebay, even craigslist. I like RacingJUnk better than ebay even though i was successful.
craigslist, it is local and you can see what your buying.
good luck finding a deal now, everyone is looking for a summer ride now. try shopping in late august or september.
i have seen some ok deals on ebay, but i would never buy a car sight unseen no matter how good it looks in pictures.
I found mine in a paper. We have a paper that has nothing but cars and parts for sale and then another that has a little bit of everything for sale. I looked through them each week and always kept an eye out when i drove anywhere. It may take some time but you will find what you want for the right price if you wait.
Helllo. I found mine in an old barn out in the middle of nowhere. I didn't see another one in there. As far as "A good deal" goes, that would depend on what you mean by that. If you're looking to buy a really nice car that runs great for waay under market value, that probably isn't going to happen. You can check the all of the usual places, like Hemmings, Craig's list, ebay, etc... You can also google it and see what you come up with. There is also a classified section here, like most of the other Mustang websites. You could also try a locater service, like Mustang for Sale FREE Ads 1965 1966 1967 1968 1969 1970 - 2009 Mustangs They'll do the all of the leg work for you.
I was looking for a Camaro, Firebird or Mustang to take to shows and work on and "put the word out" that I was looking. There were a few cars I passed on due to needing too much work, overpriced....or both! I wound up getting my 68 Mustang from a guy my father worked with. It wasn't for sale when I had originally started looking but became available for purchase when the guy found a 68 fastback he wanted bad but his wife wouldn't let him buy it since he already owned a Mustang. Needless to say he quickly contacted me about the car before he was going to run any ads for it.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project
Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
I managed a body shop with a wrecker service and knew a older couple that was storing 69 fastback for dieing old lady. After she passed I contacted the couple to see what the plans for the car were and they said the car was to go to her son. After two years of storage the couple called and ask me to tow the car from their home. I towed the car and contacted the son and he said that he wouldn't come get it just let it rust away. I then allowed the to sit on my lot for 2 months (building a big tow and storage bill). After that I applied for a mechanics lean with the bill as prof of lean. In the end with bill in hand and digging through the red tape I applied for a new title and it was granted. A 1969 Wimbledon white mustang sports roof with 351w 2v, FMX trans, 9" rear, factory air, 70,000 original miles, and zero rust for total cost of $125. One new gas tank and thirty minutes of work and she was driven to her new home. I just have to say I would have never went looking for a FORD but.... I am now in love and couldn't ask for anything more. TRULY A GOOD DEAL!!!!
I got mine at a used car dealer hidden behind a Chrysler Cirrus. There is a 68 Coupe for sale near me. The lady who owns it is asking $200 for it. The engine isn't frozen, the interior is in great shape. It has been sitting for 25 years, no body rot. The only problem is that it will need a bit of bodywork and most likely needs new paint. This is all due to the fact that 25 years ago the garage fell on it and has been sitting on the cars roof since.
I bought my '66 coupe in 1995 from my Commanding Officer who was transferring from Hawaii back to Virginia. He had four cars, the Navy would only pay to ship one and he asked me to buy it. After six months of asking, I finally agreed. He was the second owner and he and his wife had the car since '71.
My friend at work just bought a '65 convertible through classiccars.com Lots of listings from across the country and there was a broker in San Diego who also handled the shipping to Hawaii.
A buddy of mine and I are always looking for new places to go and explore junkyard-wise looking for various interchangeable parts. He found a couple yards, I found one, and off we went over a few weekends. We were walking through one of them looking for the ford section, and I stumbled upon my '65 stang, sitting there with weeds growing around it and it had sunk into the ground six inches. Always wanted to build a car, never thought I'd randomly find one like that, wasn't even looking for one. Body was in great shape, everything was there in the car, and it was a good deal. A week later it was mine.

Hi again. I see that you are from Carrollton. That barn in which I found my car was right outside of Carrollton. Sorry about that 'middle of nowhere' thing.
My folks were the original owners in late 65 and gave it to me for my 16th BD in 1972. It was my daily driver for 18 years and then stored in various garages for the next 17 until I fully restored it in 07-08. I know each and every bolt in that car! Have to say that it is a much nicer car today even compared to when it was delivered from the factory.
