Well, I finally got one of the things I have been wanting for my car for a long time. I got the dealer optional "Sillouette Safety Light". For those that don't know that was a dealer accessory for 64.5, 65, and 66 Mustangs. It was a light that fit inside the corral behind the horse. There are 3 ways you can wire it-to go on with the parking lights, to go on with the headlights, or to a switch under the dash which is what I did. I put it into the underdash line that always gets power from the battery so I don't need the keys in the ACC or START position for the power to go to the switch. Here are the pics.

That's awesome. Not seen this before. Just wonder if you will forget about the light, unless the switch is in obvious sight. I always find it hard enough to remember the normal headlights . Well done though. sure you will get compliments!!!

Thanks. To make it match the xenon headlights better, we are getting a blue LED buld for it. It is just difficult to find the LED light because it needs to be bulb size 1156.

Well Dutchy, I thought of that as well. The switch is a toggle switch that I bought at advance auto parts, and built into the actually switch that you flip is a red LED to match my interior that I can see. The LED is only on if the switch is in the on position, so I will always know if the light is on. See, I is smart.

There was a passing fad in the 60s called a Daytime Running Light which was a single white light mounted on the front of the car. I remember my mother buying one for our '59 Rambler which my Dad never did install. The extra light was rather odd so people tended to take notice of it instead of blinding crashing into you. Whoever was selling them intended that ALL cars should have one at which time it would not have been 'odd' and no one would likely have noticed. The fad was short lived.

The lighted corral, which I haven't seen in years, was sort of a knock off of the DRL.

Hello. They aren't that easy to find, and, generally, aren't cheap when you do find one. They pop up on ebay sometimes, or you could try someone like Perogie. They get stuff like that. I have one on my car, and, I don't think that I've ever heard anyone say anything other than ' Wow! That's pretty cool. " I have mine wired to come on with the headlights, though. I like the idea of riding down the road at night and having people coming the other way say to themselves. " Wow! That's pretty cool." Just riding around, putting smiles on people's faces and bringing little rays of sunshine with me as I go along. That's what I'm all about.

There is a company on ebay called tripowerparts that is selling the clear and the amber lens versions for $45. Then Mustangs Unlimited has them for about $70. I got the clear lens but they make an amber lens version.

Thanks to all for the info. The clear lens sounds good to me. Am going to wire it with the parking lights. Think it will look good at a cruise.Don't know if its legal in penna. to run with headlights. This state has some funny laws

Well, I have used it twice with the headlights and I haven't gotten in trouble yet. Where in Beaver are you? I am just out by the Pittsburgh International Airport.

Hi again. I didn't know that someone had started reproducing them. Cool. I can get a new one and save my original one for shows and stuff.

The passing fad that is now almost standard on all new cars
