Default 65 Mustang seat question

I have headrests on my 65 Mustang front bucket seats. I believe headrests were only available on 68's or newer? Will it be possible to install pony covers on these seat frames or will I need new frames? I think I would rather not have head rests if they were not available in 65. How else would I be able to know what year the seats were out of?

What do the headrests look like? In 65 there was an optional headrest that was a Rotunda brand. It was round and had two metal bars that bolted to the back of the seat. It was a pretty rare option. I read an article in Mustang Monthly, I believe, where they are just now starting to reproduce these and installed them. You might do a search on the Mustang Monthly website and see if you can pull up the article. I am not saying these are the headrests that you have, but you never know.

My headrest has a flat chrome bar about 2" wide that slides into to top centre of the seat back. The back seat back has two tags wired to the frame. One is stamped 5-17 the other is stamped C4ZB-6566700-A. The front and back seat seem to match.

The round looking head rest have been remade for a while most mustang part houses sell them. But tmi sells a better looking head rest that matches the seat design and even have a sport seat kit too.I would use the head rest they are good in your in a wreck keeps you from hurting your neck in a wreck.
