Default 1965 Mustang 10" Drum Brake Shoe Spring

I have a 1965 Mustang 289 with 10" Front Drum Brakes.
I'm in the process of replacing my brakes and spring hardware. I can not find the "Brake Shoe Retracting Assist Spring". These do not come with the hardware kits. Can anyone tell me where I could purchse them?

I have the same issue - the rear also has springs between the shoes.

That's weird, they should have been in the kit
Have you checked with a Wagner Brake parts supplier or the Dorman/Motormite H.E.L.P. section ?

They make a kit so they should blister pack the springs

Rockauto has them

1968 FORD MUSTANG Drum Brake Hardware Kit

I'll look around for you.
I may have some in my garage

I have a second question re brakes, most brake set ups have a flat 'winged washer??' (anchor pin plate?) that sits over the anchor pin and on top of each shoe.
My 64.5 does not have them and the anchor pin stub is not deep enough to allow this 'washer'.
Is this correct?

as I recall they became a service part to keep the anchor pin swivel true in the hole but I may be wrong.

I don't remember them being original back then.

I can check my ford book for you IYW

EDit: Yes the wave washer was Original equipment

thanks, and of course where can I get these? They were not there when I disassembled the bakes. I haven't seen any listed in the various catalogs. Also, how about the odd shaped spring that connects the primary and secondary shoes and pulls them together in the middle.
I have already realized the frustrations involved in restoring the early 64.5 Mustangs - nothing is standard!!! My vin indicates that the conv was produced April 9, 1964. lots of extra holes, Falcon parts etc....

Well here is some more info.

They are not on my April 5th 64 coupe and the part isn't listed for any 64 Cars of any type.

The wave washer may these days be part of the emergency brake cable and adjuster kit.

Sometimes I see them in Brake shoe kits with the horseshoe shaped keeper.

Do not use this, the Parts Dept gave me the wrong info as I found out too late when my springs arrived today!

Beefer;

The odd shaped spring that connects the primary and secondary shoes together on the front Drum Brakes is same ones I am looking for. They are "Shoe Retracting Assist Springs". As soon as I can find the correct part number and sorce I'll pass it on to you. I hope to have word soon.

Default PB lines

Hello, question on other brake parts - I am in the process of converting my 64.5 drum brakes to power drum. Have everything installed - now how do I conncect the front single master cylinder to the splitter? There is only about 1" clearance between the front outlet and the shock tower. The original set up has a 90 deg elbow connector out the front. I can't seem to find the fitting. Can one bend a standard line that sharp?
regards

Beefer the correct Ford part is C20Z2035D I found a source but he only has one left. He says it has very slight surface rust but is in good condition. Don't know where else you can get any, try your local Ford Dealer. As of 4/23/09

I don't know which hardware lit leaves out the key parts but,

Just go to any parts store that sells brake parts and order the Wagner Hardware Kit.
It includes everything.

Hello. If you are talking about the spring in this picture which is indicated by the arrows, the kits don't include that, Ford is out of them and nobody makes it as far as I know. I haven't gone looking for them for a few years, so it is possible that someone now makes them, but, they definitely still don't come with the kits. Most people refer to it as the anti-rattle spring.

If it is in fact the spring Veronica pointed out...

Spring part # C2OZ-2035-D

I'll check all the ford Dealerships and others for it.

I know I have 2 of them in my garage
