Default quick steering gear ration compared to power steering...

i have a 1965 gt fastback A code. it has the quick steering gear ratio box but i was wondering if i could also add power steering to it?if not which is better the power steering or the quick gear ratio steering box?

I don't thing that you would be able to add to it.
I have a quick ratio and the benifit is that there is no power loss for having to drive a pump. There is little effort to turning but then again I'm going straight most of the time!

If this is a street vehicle and power loss is not much of a concern, I would put powersteering in. If you ride with kind of big tires for handling you'll want the powersteering.

Hello. The GTs and K codes got the steeing gear box that had a tag that said HCC-AX and the power steering cars got the gear box with a tag that said HCC-AW, both of which had a ratio of 16:1. You could get power steering on an A code GT. Adding power steering to the car is just a straight swap. It won't be cheap, because you'll need a different drag link, the control valve, the power cylinder, the pump, brackets, hoses, etc.. but, once you accumulate all of the parts, it's just take off the old, install the new. It won't slow down the steering response at all. It will still be 3 3/4 turns of the steering wheel from lock to lock.
