Default steering wheel options for 1966 mustang

Well I bought an oem black steering wheel and it feels to thin and way to big. I also bought a a grant 13.5 inch wheel a little small
and look a little funny because of that. I was wondering if anyone had any sugestions for steering wheels pics of theirs? Also what would be a good size?

I had what I believe is a Grant (I know it is Grant) 14" wood steering wheel. I didn't like it. I thought it was too thick, and it liked to fall off. So I bought a reproduction of the deluxe rimblow steering wheel. It has a much thinner rim, but I like it much better, I think it makes it easier to steer.

The first picture is of the old wood wheel, which is in a box in my garage, and the second & third pictures are of my new rimblow steering wheel.

The deluxe pony wheel in the pics is 15". That's what I have and it feels too big, mainly because my daily driver has a smaller steering wheel and the feel is odd. However, I am getting used to it. I picked up a 13" Grant but after reading twice now that they tend to fall off it has me spooked. What's the deal with it falling off 66Sprint200??

I have a 15" wheel and i like the way it looks and feels. I have a grant and haven't had any problems yet other than the horn button fell off once but that was no big deal, just had to push it back on.

I was shocked myself when it happened. I had noticed leading up to it that my horns were acting up, and then they just stopped working. Then I noticed the wheel would actually wobble a bit, but I thought that might be part of the play in my wheel. Well, going to meet my dad at the library, I was doing 70mph down Business 60 (Route 60) and then it literally shot off because of the spring under it. I had to force it down onto the shaft to pull over. I called my dad, he went to the auto store and got a rachet head the right size, ran it out to me and made sure I was ok.

My current wheel is slightly loose, but I am wondering if it is supposed to have a lock washer or something, or if I didn't tighten it enough. It was an ok wheel, but it didn't match my woodgrain, and it was too thick for me. So, if anybody wants a 14" or 15" Grant wood steering wheel, I have one, all it needs is a new spade connector for one of the horn leads.

I've not looked that closely at the installation instructions for the Grant, but I assume you still use the stock stud and nut. Perhaps you just didn't have it torqued down enough 66sprint200? I drove my mustang with the original pony wheel for 18 years and I do like how it looks. Just a little ungainly now that I have power R&P with a 2.5 rotation lock to lock - a smaller wheel would be more ergonomic. Have to give the Grant some more thought. Also like the Shelby wheel and the Lecarra but think they are 15" as well.

One issue with the reproduction pony wheel is that I get an annoying chatter of the horn ring (the triangle unit) until the car gets warmed up. The original wheel never did that but the plastic wood grain was shot.

GRANT is out with me. Thank GOD I didn't buy it. THANKS 2 U.
And the pictures you posted (2) on the right.

Question(s) Please

1- Is the RIMBLOW sport wooden steering wheel THIN
2- Does it have the gribs in back of the wheel that your fingers kinda fit into

What I'm looking 4 is what I see in those (2) two pictures on the right that you posted.

I wait 4 your reply.

Thanks Guy
GOD BLESS

Hi Gang,

Along these same lines, when switching to a smaller steering wheel (eg 14") has anyone found a shorter turn signal indicator that felt right? I'm thinking I may cut down the stock and re-tap.

TIA
