Default Anyone live near Pony Carburetors or done business with them? I need a part

Hello Everyone,

I know this might sound like a strange request. I'm in need of a new idle/mixture screw (spring is OK just need the screw) for my autolite 4100 carb. model# C6ZF-D, 6Z-D (1.08 venturi 4V 4 Speed 480 CFM California Emission). It appears that the only source for this part is Pony Carbs in Las Cruces, NM. It seems that they are discouraging their parts business by imposing a $50 minimum on parts orders, unless you are a current customer who has purchased a rebuilt unit from them or if you walk into their store and buy directly. It's a $6 part which I can't seem to bring myself to pay $50+ for. If anyone is in the area and wouldn't mind helping a fellow Mustanger out, or if you've done business with them before, I could sure use the assistance. Thanks, Guy

I have used their carbs in the past, if I lived near them I would stop in and pick it up for you. No one else carries this?

I also found them to be a little snooty.

Try All American Carbs in Orange Park Fla. (jacksonville). Great guys, great work and helpful.

Got a lathe? I am fairly sure that screw can be salvaged with a little lathe work to re-sharpen the point to the correct angle. You might have to remove a bit of thread on the pointy end also although maybe not since much of the thread is not engaged.

They are not Mustang specific so any mid-60s 4100/2100 will have the same screws. There are other styles from prior years that look different but will work. You can buy whole carbs are swap meets for much less than $50.

Never done business with Pony Carbs but they obviously want to sell complete, refurbished carbs - not parts.

These people in CA have jets for 2100/4100 carbs reasonably priced. They may have idle screws as well: wouldn't hurt to ask.
