Default 1966 mustang hood scoop to cowl

i am putting a hood scoop on my 1966,i was thinking of installing as cowl scoop with opening to the rear of the hood to vent some of the heat from the engine compartment, the scoop is 20L15Wand1&1/2H,it runs a little hot in traffic or when at idle for a while,i have an electric fan and aluminum radiator, does anyone have any suggestions?would it be better to mount with opening to front or rear?how far from front or rear of hood should it be mounted?any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What t-stat are you running? A scoop will not make a major differance. Are you still running your stock fan as well? Do you have a fan shroud?

A scoop does nothing under about 50mph if its running hot you got coolant system problems. How many core is your radiator how old is the water pump.Have you tried adding water wetter.Do you have a overflow tank?
