Question 1967 Mustang identification help?

I just purchased a 1967 Mustang from a salvage yard in NY yesterday to restore. However, I do not know the exact sub-model. It's a coupe and appears to be a GT, though I don't know enough about them to tell. It's dark green in color with very faded accent stripes along the sides, which appear to have been gold at one point. It has no engine or transmission to reference from, though the car is set up for standard. There are no badges. From what I understand, everything on the car is factory installed, including hood pins. I will attach photos for reference. I know VIN numbers were not vehicle specific as they are for post-1981 vehicles, but the one stamped in the engine compartment is 7T01T285194, if that's helpful. Thanks very much for your help.

It is most likely not a GT. The vin indicates it was a 6 cyl car.

Hood pins did not come from the factory in 1967. Also, like the prior post, it is a six cylinder car and none were GT's.

Default Call Ford

You can actually call up the Ford service department, give them your VIN and they'll send you all the info about the car in the mail. I did it a few years ago, and it really helped me in trying to keep the car stock.

There is also a whole list of codes on the internet you can look up, it will tell you what each letter means, which gives your body style, color, engine type, and where it was made.

Good luck and enjoy!

Here is some ifo on how to desipher the VIN number.Mustang VIN decoder page

Asw ell does the vehicle have a dataplate on the inside of the drivers side door near the latch? This will help you determine more information on it as well.

I can tell you that VIN 7T01T285194 would have a scheduled build date of "18U" which is July 18th 1967. That would be a very late car, built in the last month of 67 model year production before the factory shut down and retooled for the 68 model year the second week of August or so.

You may find some 68 specific parts on that car as 67 parts may have run short that late in production.

Check the door tag like mentioned to see if it matches and is original to the car and look at the right fender apron too for the VIN, the fender may have to be unbolted at the top and pulled back to see it.

Kens the 68 california special had twist locks on the hood.Does the strips look like this http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ang-7-7-02.jpg if so it might be a sprint which they did make with both inline 6 and v8 cars.

I overlooked something, that is a Metuchen, NJ built car so it would have had a buck tag too. If the car still has it it will be a stamped metal plate near the passenger hood hinge. The VIN will be on that tag plus the original color and interior and any major options the car had from the factory.

If the tag is still there and you post the codes as they show some of us can decifer them.
