Default 8" rear end gears

Got a 68 coupe with a stock 8" and stock gears. Can't afford a new 9" yet, so does anyone know where I can find a good gear kit (3.73) for the 8"? Couldn't find it with summit, and tried to google, and nothing. Is 3.73's ok for the street? I knew 4.11s were a bad idea. Thanks for the help

Due to the size of an 8" rear you cant get 3.73s exactly. The closest you can get is 3.80s which are pretty close. Just about any mustang supplier would have a set of those gears they are fairly common. I have 3.55s on my 66 and would never go higher but i dont plan on bringing her to the strip.

I guess I did have it mixed up with an 8.8. Thanks for the help. The 3.55's what do you think of them, was there a big difference? How about in fuel economy did you lose a lot?

Is the car an automatic or a standard. If it's an automatic, 3.55's will be enough. It's gives you the best of both worlds. If you have a standard, you can get away with the 3.80's, but I still prefer 3.55's. That's what I have in my car.
