It will gain HP and Torque. How much depends on the type of headers and the mods all ready on the motor. Headers are a good buy for the money for bolt ons.

93' LX hatch, 460 with mods, TH400 trans, 9" w/ 3.89 spool. Best (so far!) of 10.18 @ 131 mph with 1.39 60'

some...not much maybe 10...for the hassle and noise they make I'd stay stock, if you have a 289 a set of the old hi-po cast iron manifolds are best...a full exhaust, long tube headers, h-pipe and hi flow mufflers might net you 20-25 hp, depends on engine and mods

I recall my old Stangs really could have used better rear gears, the stockers are so bad it kills all performance...get some 3.55s or lower...

Headers in combination with a larger carb, better intake and a cam to match it all will add some real HP. By themselves on a stock engine they will only be one step towards more power and the net yield will be low - maybe 10 hp and may require an increase in jet size by one or two sizes. A good distributor tune is more likely to give you more power and economy than headers if you are only going to do one thing.
