Default 1965 1966 mustang rim and tire clearance..need help

Hey all ..ok here I go..I have a 65 mustang..its lowered an inch all the way around using 620lbs after market lowering springs and aftermarket reverse eye rear leafs...it realy gives the car a great look being lowered. I want to get some torqu thrust rims for it..I dont know if I need 14x6 or 14x7 ...I do have some tire choices for a 14 inch rim(see below)but dont know which combo will work for the front and rear..also have some choices if I go 15 inch rim..but again 15x6 or 15x7..see my tire choices below that are available..so I need your help here in seeing what everyone is running or have ran before..Think this thread will be good info for all in there tire and rim searches...just need a lot of input..thanks everyone..

On a 15 inch rim
225 50 15
23.9 x 8.9

235 60 15
26.1 x 9.3

245 60 15
26.6 x 9.6

Or on a 14 inch rim

225 50 14
22.9 x 8.9

235 60 14
25.1 x 9.3

245 60 14
25.6 x 9.6

I have 205/70-14 on the front with a 14x6 wheel and 3.5 backspacing and on the back i have 235/60-14 on a 14x8 wheel with 4.5 backspacing. I suggest going with the 15 inch wheel only because there are more tire options. the 14 looks great. A 14x6 rim is stock size i think. I would go with 7" wide at least on the back if not all around.

Default choice

yea I am considering the 15 inch rim...its just that I really really like the 14 inch rim...I used to run 245 50 14's in the back with no tire rub...I thought I also ran that same tire in front as well..but a few people have said that was impossible..so I am thinking maybe I had 225 50 14s on it...I want the widest tire all the way around...

I have never tried to put anything wider than a 215 on the front so i don't really know how wide you can go. For the rear tires a 245 should fit good but i don't think you want any wider. Why are you thinking about a 50 profile tire? I'm just curious because i personally like the 14 or 15 inch rim with a bigger side wall like a 60-70profile depending on the width.

Default rim size

I realy prefered the 50 series in the dunlop because of how low my car sat..and as wide as those tires were..it just gave my stang a real stock car look..real aggressive looking..although my headers would scrape those dang speed bumps but just the flanges..not to bad...yea I actualy ran 265 50 14 in the back just because of how wide the tire was and it looked cool..but the pain of evey bump and hearing the tire getting shredded always hurt..but it realy was not that bad of a rub untill I put people in the back seat..then it rubbed every five feet..

Just saw a mustang right now as I went to get donuts..he was running 15x7's fronts were a 245 50 15 rears were a 245 60 15..he said he rears rubed??I think its because he ran 60s in the back or possibly a 15x7 instead of a 15x6..have not figured out what is the difference as of yet between the two..as i ran 14x6 with a 245 50 14 in the back and it never rubbed even with people in the back seat..
