Default Yep - what Keith said.......

Use some RTV, but also lay the pan out on something flat and make sure it is not warped, or that the holes where the bolts go are "dimpled" if you tightened them too much.
It is easy to hammer them back out flat.

These can be a PITA

First - NEVER use RTV on an automatic - it can cause a lot of problems as the RTV turns to goo when exposed to the ATF.
Make sure the pan bolt hole areas are flat and that the pan rails are straight. If you feel the need to use a sealer use Permatex or Loctite #518 flange sealer - as little as you can coat the gasket with on both sides (.010" film or less).
Check the filler tube for leaks - a common place that appears to be a pan leak.
Check the shifter where it comes out of the case, also look at the downshift linkage there is an o-ring that seals it - another common place to leak oil down to the pan.
Another common leak occurs if the converter drains fluid back into the pan. The level rises until it finds a place to exit.
The only o-rings that you should put any sealer on are the ones that don't move. Never put anything but Vaseline or ATF on seals and o-rings that have a rotating shaft riding on them. The only sealer that I recommend is 518 Permatex or loctite (they share the same number and characteristics).

Default Yep - missed this....

Paul is right - I didn't use RTV, I used the Permatex Sealer (looked at the tube).

Be patient - these things are a PITA.

A black light can help to find the source of any leak. Just follow the glow up the case until it stops. That is where it is leaking from. All oils will flouresce under black light. If you have too much ambient light you can add a dye to make it glow brighter but I just turn off the lights and plug in my black light.
