Default 1967 Mustang-rebuild transmisson or replace?

Howdy! I have a 1967 mustang coupe with a c-4 transmission. I want to have it rebuit or replaced. This will never be a show car, so is it important I keep the original transmission (if it even is) and rebuild it, or just replace it, use the original for the core return?

Thanks! Jason in Washington state

Just replace it if it costs less, or upgrade to an AOD

Jason,
I am in Seattle and can build you a great street C4 for around $750. Do you want to keep it a 67 or go to the stronger 72- and later? I can either build yours or build a later one from my core stock. It will be the same price if you are going to replace the converter but if you want to use the converter you have then I will have to build your core.
Call me and we can talk.

I would use it as a reason to upgrade to a aod.

If he goes to an AOD he will need to get new rear end gears too. The stock gears will put his "around town" rpm so low that his mileage will drop instead of improve.
