Default aod or built up c4 transmission?

I'm thinking of getting a different transmission for my 67 V8 302 (It's a boss 302) which has a C4 paired with it (I think) and i was thinking about an AOD. is an AOD transmission a good option performance wise?? I'm looking for something performance oriented, while keeping in mind that this 'stang is not living the track life.

Keep in mind your rearend gears. You want to have at least 3.55 or so to go with AOD. The first 3 gears are going to be very similar to the C4, but with overdrive. This will help you a ton on the highway with mileage, and keeping your rpm's down. Make sure when you are looking that it's not an Electronic AOD

The best AOD to use as a starting point is 92 or 93. You can work with any AOD after 85 but the later ones have more desirable parts in them.
You will want to add to any AOD the following:
14 roller sprage clutch (or the mechanical diode which is stronger)
Wide OD band
A or A+ OD servo

If this will be used for any kind of performance use I highly recommend a good after-market valve body with an OD switch.
