"taller gears" are when the ring and pinion gear ratio is more then stock, such as 3.73s, 4.10s, etc., the higher the number the better your acceleration, the lower the number, the more speed you have. hope this helps

You could remove the cover off the rear end and count the pinion teeth and ring teeth then divide the ring by the pinion, that will give you raitio. i know for 4.10 gears, it 41 teeth on the ring and 10 on the pinion, divide that and it's 4.10.
Also you could see how many times your drive shafts turns as you turn the rear wheel one complete turn.

Tall gearing usually refers to the OTHER extreme, i.e. a low ratio such as 2.80:1 in my '66 coupe. I suppose there is 'short gearing' but I can't recall ever hearing that term. I once owned a '66 Galaxie that at 2000 RPM was cruising at 60 MPH which is fairly 'tall'.

Double posted somehow? If anyone knows how to delete one of these messages, give me a hint.
