Just trying to figure out if this 69 fastback mach 1 is worth anything? Chances are I could get it cheap and resell to someone who wants it, just trying to see if its worth my time.
Last reg sticker on it is from 1980 so I would say its a safe bet that its been sitting for about 28 years on an old railroad bed. The lower sections are rot, doors wont open, metal feels thin to me but I know nothing about car restoration. Engine & carb look to be there intact, interior not great.
VIN is 9T02M189091 so its the 4 barrel 351.
Most of the plastics, lights, tails etc.. are uncracked.
Just trying to figure what I could get for it from someone.
With title?
and without?
I'm trying to figure out where the first post is too with the pics? I missed it.
Sportsroofs do have some value, even bad ones, but without really seeing the car it's hard to say. I have seen some rough ones be brought back since the parts are available. Not something you'd want to fix and flip since you won't make any money doing that but it may be a car for someone who's wanted a fastback body style and can weld and do bodywork themselves and have plans on keeping the car.
How complete and useable the remainder of the car is factors in too. If there's a drivetrain, glass, wiring, and some interior that can be reused.

here are some pics again, I am not trying to sell the car on this site. If this gets deleted tell me why.
best guess its been sitting for 20 years. I will probably get it for free if I just move it off the property but the tow to my property will cost me a few 100. What I am trying to figure out is, is this car just to far gone? Would the engine block, carbs, matching vins be worth something?
The vin starts with 9T02M189xxx so its got the 351.
Free? Well, actually a few hundred to move it, is virtually free for this car! Go get it! It looks like it's a Mach 1 from the stripes on the side. It will take a lot of work to bring it back, but it could be worth it. Plus, you would be saving a cool Mustang! I guess someone lost the trunk key! I've never seen a trunklid so badly bent.
What about paperwork? Does the owner have anything that proves ownership? If you can't get a title, you may have some trouble registering it unless your state allows only a Bill of Sale to register it. If no title is available, try to get an old registration. This could be used to prove the car was not stolen.
I guess the worst scenario would be that you could part it out.
Go for it!

Ya its a mach1, says it on the side still. Trunk is destroyed but oddly there are no marks from the pry bar on the body.
Paperwork, well so far its unclear who owns it, I may have to have the DMV run the numbers. I am still waiting on some call backs. I don't have a garage or the time in my life for restoring a car even though this thing called to me. Its odd how such a hunk of junk can look so beautiful to me lol. Thats cars for u.
My only plan was to save the car and pay for my time messing with it. Was hoping to get it dragged out of there, take some decent pics and try to get 1k for it. I would like to know if it could pull in a grand. I know nothing about what it would be worth fixed up, or parted out. (after looking it seems unclear if its worth anything, might have to pass this on once I get more info on the owner paperwork)
I will keep the thread updated and if I bail on the project will pass it on to someone nearby that would like to deal with it. I think this car should be saved. Been driving past it for a year and everytime I have wanted to stop and explore the reasons why it was left in the middle of nowhere on an old railroad bed.
That would be a great parts car for my upcoming Mach 1 project. If you decide you don't want to pursue it, let me know!

I just looked at your pics and I say that car is savable, I've seen much worse get resurrected.
It appears it may have had motor problems as to why it was parked. The hood, radiator, wires, alternator and other parts are removed or just laying there while the remainder of the car is intact, unmolested.
I'm sure you can easily get 2k for it if you dragged it out and washed it off. I've been in the market looking at 69 Sportsroofs and I've seen rough stripped shells only going for 1K or more and you have glass interior and trim with that car still, plus it is a M code Mach.....even more desirable. The car has alot of surface rust but doesn't look rotted out on top where it counts since floors ect are easily replaced. The trunk lid rotted away, I've seen that before, the lower seem goes first and with the lid staying open all these years gravity pulled it back. Used replacement lids are out there or even repro, plus the trunk floor and drop offs are reproduced and are decent reproductions.
You may find owner info in the glovebox with an old registration or insurance card. It's possible the car was abondoned on the property or was there when the current people moved in. It is possible to get paperwork for these cars but varies by state.

NC is a PITA to get a title in. You might want to check out the DMV site to find out whats involved and if it's worth the hassle. Looks like the car is worth fixing, but if you can't get a title to drive it or sell it it's only good for parts.
The cheapest i see any fastback 65-70 is 8k even with more rust then metal left.If you can't get a title you can from Lost Automobile and Old Car Titles its about 150 bucks.Someone will buy it they can use the vin for a dynacorn shell.
I'd revive it....I've had three like that and 2 are on the road today and the owners love them. I am not a talented mechanic or body man ....but I did stay in a Holiday INN
"says it on the side still"....keep in mind until you read the door tag...those stripes well are objectionable. eg:my convertible came with the "c" stripe, there is no c stripe on the car due to one repaint in the late 70's and second they only put that on the 68(i believe)...now then, mine is a 67. So I would check the tag.
Personally? I would restore the car!
