Default 73' mach 1...$8000 good buy?

Hello,
I came across a 73' mach 1 original 351 and what looked to be minimal rust He was originally asking 11000 but I got him down to 8000. He needs to buy a house. The car looked to be in good condition and with a new paint job and an engine and tranny rebuild it would be great. My question to you: Is this a good buy? The guy painted it himself so it looks busch league but I just dont know if I should let this slip away. I was originally looking for a 60's era stang but living in florida finding one with no rust is quite difficult. Anyways, I am still yet to buy my first mustang so Im chompin at the bit to find one worth buying with minimal rust. Thanks in advance for the replies
P.S. Any selling points I could use for the wifey?--->

It sounds like a steal from what you have said but there is really no way we can tell you if its actually a good deal or not. There are so many things to take into account when buying these cars, but i feel that if you like the car and its affordable to you then go for it. tell the wife that it would never go down in value and will most likely be an investment and tell her to think of all the good times you will have.

I would need pictures to say.But the 71-73 years do sell for less then the rest of the early years.

Get some pics, plus fresh paint and rust makes me wonder what is hiding under all that fresh paint???
