Default Veronica-VIN Numbers and consecutive unit numbers?

The 1964 1/2 I have has no Data Plate on the door. All the other VIN numbers match and I want to recreate a Data Plate. Does anyone know where I can find all the Data informaton (i.e. the exterior color, trim color, engine, build date, ect.) using the consecutive unit number in the VIN number? I would be very thankfull for any help.

Sorry you are kind of out of luck unless you find the build sheet.

Unless you a certain that the equipment now in your car is original, you will have difficulty getting the info to get a replacement the data plate.

You've said that you think the current color poppy red is original. You might try pulling out the rear seat and looking under it, to see if you see any other color there.

The scheduled build date was on the door tag and no where else, but on the buck tag or the build sheet. You could post the VIN here and see if anyone has info on your car.

Veronica can probably help you with an approximate build date and maybe more.

The DSO will be nearly impossible to determine, unless you locate the build sheet.

How do you know it's a 64 1/2?

I have heard that if the data plate is gone on the early cars it is IMPOSSIBLE to get the data because all of Fords records were burned up in some big fire. Only way is to guess all of the codes for that plate, easy part is the original color and int color because the original paint is still somewhere on the car like the floorboards. The poppy red is really more of orange than red. Most parts you will guess and most likely you will be right, only impossible thing is the DSO.

Well, the 5th digit of the VIN will tell you the engine. If you post or PM me or Veronica the complete VIN we can give you a close date within a day or so. I have the Mustang Production Guide books listing VINs and build dates and Veronica keeps a list for herself.

As for the original color, interior, rear and tranny if the car has bee restored a few times then that info may be gone. You may be able to find some of the info if you think it's still the same color as the factory or you can just get a tag made up with what the car is currently. The DSO would be the hardest and most likely will never know.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

There was no fire. Ford actually tossed the data out, because they didn't need it anymore. Kevin Marti and Lois Eminger were able to save a lot of the '67 and up data/invoices before Ford tossed that out too.

Just a coupe of days ago I found the build sheet for our 66. I had had instrument cluster out before and hadn't noticed anything. This time I noticed a sheet coiled and wrapped around the wiring harness with hockey tape. Its brittle, yellow and some parts where the tape was aren't readable but most is. So there's another place to check. Who knows you might get lucky.

I think there may have been a fire in the 50s that affected early T-bird records but that had no affect upon 60s records for Mustangs.

Hello. Most of that stuff can be deduced with some poking around on the car. The original body color is going to be all over the place. It's underneath the factory undercoating up high in the wheel wells, underneath the factory underhood black, lots of places. If the radiator core support hasn't been replaced, everything that was on the door tag was also written on the front of the radiator core support on the passenger side and then was painted over. You scrape the black of and when you get to the bare metal it will look like this.

I don't know about a fire in the fifties, but, the original Mack Road plant burnt to the ground in 1941.
