Default Swing away steering wheel what years ?

Was at a cruise nite this week and was asked if our 66 had a swing away steering wheel. Questionner said they had, had a '67 with this option. Wasn't aware that such was available, and if so what years was it offered?

Hello. That option became available in the 67 model year, but the 67 set-up was different from what the 68-70 cars had. It did the same thing through what was basically the same type of system, but, the components of the 67 set-up were different and aren't interchangeable with the 68-70 cars.

True , very true due in part to the "non collapsible " steering column on early 67 cars
It was a really cool option for chubby guys such as myself .

I have a bunch of the old Mustang commercials including 1967. Its funny, here is how the commercial describes the wheel "it leaps aside".LOL
