Default 1968 mustang break problem

hi i am new to this so here i go i just recently bought a 1968 mustang and my problem is my break pedel is really hard.. i have breaks but it takes alot to push down on the pedel. can any one help me or give me suggestion on what to try.
could it be a bad booster or something simply.
