Default Where to find a 289 block?

hey everyone, it looks like i'm going to need a different 289 block since mine is cracked. What's a good place to start looking? I've checked craigslist and the classifieds on here. It's hard to find something close to me. They seem to be fairly rare. It would be nice to have something from early mustang since it will be going in my 66. Is it hard to find something like that with no more than .020 bore? I'm located in Northern CA if anyone knows of a block nearby. Thanks!

Craigslist is about the best place to find these 289's. Id go with a cheap common 302 but look for donor cars and you will eventually find em.

Here's a '65 289 for sale. It's located in the San Francisco Bay area and needs to be rebuilt.

if I was closer, I would think about selling you the one I have. It's a unmolested '66 and I even have the 54 cc heads, crank, rods and pistons to go with it.

sorry

Hello
Do you have any junk/salvage yards in the area. 289 was a pretty popular motor and put in many cars. You should be able to find one. Most salvage yards have computer hook ups so they can locate on easily. We have lots of yards her on the east coast.

Look in yellow pages or a google search for salvage. Print Dad

they sell Brand new 289 engines which takes all the guess work out... and their fairly cheap for a crate engine

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses. I am going to use my original block, i just didn't think it would work because of a broken corner where the water pump bolts in. Well i got that all figured out and correctly fixed so it's in the shop now, but thanks again!
