Default 1969 Mach 1 State Assigned VIN #

Hi,

I found a 1969 Mach 1 that has a state assigned VIN because the car was stolen at some point. Just found out the the factory VIN has been removed. How much will the non-factory title affect that value of this Mach 1? It does have a legal title, but not with the original factory VIN. Also, it appears to be an 'M' code Mach 1 with a 4 speed and shaker hood.

Is it possible for there to be another hidden factory VIN that was not removed?

Thanks, penroseton

Hi, is it missing from under the hood on the drivers side inner fender? Also check to see if it is hidden on the inner fender under the passenger side fender. Your last bet would be to see if it is stamped somewhere on one of the frame rails.

If you cannot find the original vin anywhere it would be odd. But I think it would hurt that value of the car quite a bit because their is no way to tell if the car is a real Mach 1. Passenger side fender is the most common one.

There should be VINs on both inner fenders, see pics here on this 69 to get an idea Limited Edition 600 Restoration - Part 8 normally the top fender bolts will have to be removed and the fenders pulled back to see.

Now, if you can find the original VIN then you can get a Marti report on the car to confirm it is a true Mach1.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Yeah if you can't find a vin anywhere on the car the value of it is down to nothing almost.

There should be a VIN tag on the drivers side of the dash - visible through the windshield. It was federally mandated for 1968 to be visible through the windshield. In 1968 it was on the passenger side, and in 1969, it was moved to the drivers side.

Check and see if it got tucked under a new dash pad.
