Default Where do i look to find a 1969 mustang Fastback

Hi everyone, i'm new to the forums. But i come to you in desperation, I am in dire need of a 1969 or 1970 ford mustang fastback. It is my life goal to restore one of these beauties together with my father. He has a black cherry 1970 Chevelle SS the he spent over 14 years restoring, but now he wants a new project.

I am the proud owner of a 2004 40th anniversary edition Mustang but my dream is to have a 1969 or 1970 mustang Fastback. I have spent much time looking around for an old rusty body to work on cause that is all i can afford. Im only 17 but i worked my ass of 40 hours a week during school to earn 7500$ for my 2004 mustang that i have currently but i still want the old one.

The reason I came to this website is that i have spent many hours looking and researching and searching but i have come up with nothing. I have no idea how much an old body is going to cost me or where to start looking. I know that it depends a lot what type is was whether a boss or a mach 1, what engine and tranny it had, but i was wondering if someone could give me some ballpark estimates on some '69 or '70 Fastbacks. There was many websites that i went to that were trying to prey upon stupid kids like me that hadnt done their homework asking 8-10 thousand for a rustbucket with no engine or tranny or papers. so i was wondering if thats what i am just going to have to pay, or was i just getting taken advantage of, and also how much is it going to cost to fully restore it.

Thanks for all the help, i hope you will understand the position i am in and help me out

Craigslist under autos. Type in 1969 or 1970 mustang. Bargain classifieds, newspapers, auto trader mags, The Internet etc. I think you should find a cleveland car for a reasonable price. It's when you get to the Big blocks, and Boss cars and Shelbys that it gets stupid. Unless you and your father are very talented, expect to spend twice what you expect to spend. I love the 69 cars more with the 4 eyes and the quarter scoops. Best of luck.

thanks for the links, is seems though that they are so few and far between to find ones that are not already restored, if only my dad didn't have problems making commitments then this wouldn't be much of a problem at all.

Like another post stated, you will get a better price if you stick with a 351 or maybe a 390. You can try MustangBeginnings.com We build 390 and 428CJ/SCJ engines for quite a few of their customers.

As with everything you get what you pay for. Before I picked my 69 fastback up I was contemplating a Dynacorn new body shell and starting from there, problem is they cost 15K without getting anything at all on the inside or outside. Ebay has heaps of mustangs as well but I am sure you have searched there

A few other questions would be, how much do you want to restore? Are you looking for something with the basic body intact? Or are you willing to get a rust bucket and do a frame up on it? Are you looking for numbers matching for show, or just want a driver car?

They are out there. My brother and I just picked up a 69 but it's going to be massive work as in frame rails and the entire lower end of the car. I got that for $800 on Ebay. And it was not a complete car.

Keep looking in your local paper and the Dallas classifieds. They are turning up more often due to the fact that some many people is needing money to pay their bills.
