Default 1972 Mustang Fastback needs carpet.

OK, done with ACC., time to move on. Can someone recommend a quality carpet kit? Has anyone worked with carpet from Stock Interiors, Inc.? I want a quality kit that actually fits the car, good workmanship. I don't want something that must be glued in to fit, the original wasn't glued, the replacement shouldn't be either.

I have had good luck with ACC, at the SEMA show I never see any other major carpet people there. But looking at Stock Interiors site it looks like the same applications as the ACC list, plus their site never says they manufactuer the carpet, it just says it is made in the USA plus the other products that they offer look to be made by other companies I know of in the industry. I would guess that you would get ACC carpet from them.

What issues have you had with ACC I used them in many cars, including a 1972 Mach 1.

The quality of the kit was is pretty good but the workmanship is horrible. The jute was totallly misaligned with the form in the front section, the front foot wells are 3" to 4" to far apart. Lots of distortion in the foot well forms. Most of the problems weren't really apparent until I cut for the shifter and the put the carpet in place. According to ACC instructions the distortion should lay out in a day or so but, no. ACC's only support was that I should glue the carpet in place. I am not going to ruin a Quiet Ride insulation package for this when I know it wll still be visually unacceptable. I e-mailed ACC with my problems but they apparently are not going to respond.

I know that one time I got the wrong front carpet on a 66 that I was doing. I found that applying some heat (laying out in the sun works, but a hair dryer or heat gun (used correctly) can help smooth the carpet out in the corners and around the hump.
