Question Steve McQueen's Bullitt

Does anyone have any information of the exhaust he used for this car? I know sound was dubbed in later and stuff, but the same car was used to make the sounds as it was to drive the scenes. I heard it was the stock exhaust set-up that a GT had. I know it's a widespread rumor of it having glasspacks and such. The same site I read about it being stock said that if you look at the exhaust diagram for a 68 Fastback GT that you'll see where the mufflers were placed along with the glasspacks or whatever. Could anyone tell me what was used and where it was located?

the exhaust sound was that of a GT40 with a 427, no mufflers, and 2 4 barrels

LOL, well I've heard a lot of stories about that exhaust before, but that one is new to me.

Do you have glasspacks on your 68 Fastback GT? I guess stock 68 GT's came with glasspacks or somethin. And yes, all sounds are dubbed in during movies.

please provide proof, there is one of the cars in excistance, and the old man that owns it REFUSES to talk about it, in fact, I know three magazine editors that have talked to the owner about doing a story, without his name or location being exposed and he has said no each time, so unless you have proof to back up such a bold statement, please do not even try to start a rumor mill here.

Woah, slow down Twister, I think the man was just saying that he has a 68 Fastback GT like the one in Bullitt.

Check the July 2003 "Mustang & Fords" it's got an entire write-up on the original Bullitt.

You mean Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords or is there another magazine called "Mustangs and Fords?"
