Default Argent silver paint

Its almost time to paint the silvery grille surround details, back of the fog lights, and other such trim on my '66. I have read that the Motorcraft Argent spray paint is a decent color match but also that it is too glossy compared to the original. Is that correct? Has anyone found an exact match for the color and gloss of the original argent paint?

Other than buying the actual argent paint from one of the mustang vendors the closest I have been able to come is "chrome " paint followed by a coat of clear .
I know it doesn't sound right but it actually is very close

Hello. For the grille surrounds and the back of the foglight housings, Eastwood makes a paint called Alumablast that is a very good match.

Thanks Veronica. The only drawback I see to Alumablast is that its lacquer and not particularly sturdy. Although reading the MSDS for the Motorcraft version seems like it too is a lacquer.

The Motorcraft argent which is sold by some of the parts houses is the only 'Ford' argent paint I know of . Motorcraft didn't exist in the 60s and I understand they only started selling this paint c1990 so its true 'authenticity' for a 60s car is questionable. Many of the parts sellers suggest VHT argent wheel paint which is much too glossy. The Eastwood Alumablast at 4-15% gloss sounds encouraging.
