Default 1968 Mustang Heater Help

This is such a silly question, but I can't for life of me figure out exactly how to work the heater/vent on my Mustang! It's got the horizontal dial on the top, then three verticals sliders below it. The leftmost one doesn't have a label on it any more, the middle one says "TEMP" (for temperature, I assume) and the right one says "DEF" (which I assume is defrost).

So, how does it all work? What does the dial on the top do? And what does sliding the sliders do? I feel like such an idiot right now, haha. Thanks in advance!

Default 1968 Mustang Heater Help

Hello macgeek,
The 3 sliders are:
Heat - Temp - Defrost
Going from left to right.

If i remember the horizontal dial is for fan speed.
So to defrost the windows push down on the right lever, push the horizontal slider to the right and the air should pump out at the window. Now you push on the middle slider downwards to get a hotter temp.

If you just want want heat blowing from the vents....
Push only the left slider down return the def to top position and push the horizontal to the right. This will blow heat through the vents.

If you want just air from the vents....Put on heat by pushing down, return the temp and def to the top position and then adjust the volume with the horizontal.

This should get you started......... Print Dad

Aha, thanks a lot! Thankfully the heater is working; I'll be needing it when I drive to school this fall/winter. Good to know how to operate it now
