Default 1966 mustang-------

Hey guys i have a 1966 mustang coming out of the body shop soon. i want to keep it mostly original....my thoughts of its exterior is black paint with low profile tires and black rims smoked tail lights tinted windows smoked head lights..with chrome exhaust tips..For the interior all black..For the motor however i know that stock 289 2v motors came with only 200 hp i have no idea how much of that is put to the ground but id like to get it up to 300 horsepower without boring the engine.. Any ideas on how i could improve by 100 horspower with just basic items and not a complete boring of the motor.. For about 1500 is there any way to raise the hp by 100 but in a healthy way for the motor since im not going to bore it or change manifolds. Also any tips for exhuast im thinking cherry bomb... let me know about your thoughtsss ....thanksss!!!

Sorry, no cheap way to increase horsepower that dramatically. Your stockis most likely less than 200 and somewhere realistically around 160 - 170.
Check your engine compression, If its not up to snuff, nothings going to help much. The power of any engine is its ability to breathe. So techncially you will need a good set of heads, intake, carb, cam, and headers to start. And again, this will do no good if the compression is not there to begin with.

I feel for you, but listen to what myself and others will tell you.

I don't think their are any simple bolt-ons that will give you what you are looking for other than Nitrous. But you may want to look into a stroker kit to increase the cubic inches. I recommend reading this book to get some ideas. http://www.amazon.com/Build-Big-Inch-Small-Blocks-Cartech/dp/1884089836/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250996094&sr=1-4
