Hey guys, I've been looking for a classic mustang for quite some time now and I seem to have found a really good deal...in fact it almost seems like too good of a deal. It appears to be a 1967 GT500 with a rebuilt 428. From what i can see in the picture, it appears to be in pristine condition. Here's the odd part- they only want $4000 for it. What do you guys think? Is it too good to be true? A scam maybe? The problem is, its over 400 miles away so i cant exactly just drive over to look at it. I dont know what to think, so please, provide some input.

Sounds like a scam. Bet they ask for a deposit to hold for you to come see it, or say they will ship it to you. Either way dont send any money. Get a physical address that you can verify and a phone number. 400 miles is only a 6 h rdrive to go look. I would think if its for real its already gone.

This has scam or at least misrepresentation written all over it. Ask for the VIN and check with SAAC registrar (at www.saac.com) to verify if it is a true GT500. A real one even in poor condition would be 20 times the asking price. Even a modified big block '67 fastback would be way over $4000. There are numerous scams running right now and this ones looks like a big one.
A plan inline 6 fastback even rusted out is worth 8 grand.Ask for pictures with a sign on it saying today's date or today's newspaper on it.And get the vin from it and check it.Or if you want a laugh play along i had one send me a fake check and asked me to cash it and send him the money. So i sent him a 5 pound box of dog poop.If its on craigslist look at the pictures like in the car is in new york you shouldn't see palm trees and look at license plates on cars.
Can you show us the ad? The only time I ever saw an ad that was too good to be true but was was when some woman sold her ex-husbands lamborghini she won in the divorce for $25. Her ad was something like this, Lamborghini Gallardo for sale, come see, make me an offer, all offers accepted. Someone jokingly said $25 and ended up driving home in a Lamborghini Gallardo. All that money they saved can be used to cover it's insurance. LOL
My first thought was this has trouble written all over it, but hell, every once in a while there is that unusual case of someone not knowing what they have...
And now that I've put the link out there, there are gonna be ten thousand people asking questions about it

Yeah add in one state number from half way around the country and only a single picture it scream scam to me.A while back in the uk a woman sold her husbands lotus on ebay while he was at work dirt cheap. He was a dj on the radio and she didn't like him flirting with a model so she sold his car it was in her name. Its rare but stuff like that happens i say call the number and act like you want to see the car tonight see if they speak broken english.
Scam I have seen that car somewhere else, and it was not in NY.I think someone just pulled a pic off the internet. Looks like the car that was just in Mustang Monthly awhile back.

I've had 60 cars....most of them Mustangs :-)
This has SCAM written all over it -
I bet the car is at a holding area in NY - not available for inspection, and they want funds wired to them for delivery.
