Default wheel and tire size for 1970 mustang convertible

Does anyone know what wheel width, including back spacing, and tire size can fit under the rear of a 70' convertible? I am considering 18s in the rear and 17s in the front. I want to go as wide as I can for the rear wheels. 295's if possible. thx

I have a 70 convertible and I have Foose 17x 8 Chrome Legend wheels with Goodyear P245/45R17 F1 all season tires. I do get a little tire rub if I cut the wheel all to way to the left when I back up. Other than that no issues.
