Default 1970 Mustang grabber 428 CJ

I have located a 1970 Grabber fastback that is equipped with a 428CJ Q code, non ram air. Anyone know how rare this car is by any chance? Or what it would be worth? Car looks to be in pretty darn good shape. I have read that there were only 5120 grabbers built in 1970. Its grabber blue with a C-6 trans.

Thanks for any help
Jeff

Are you sure it is a Grabber Special? I always was under the impression they were mostly the 302-2V or 351-2V.

The only way to be sure is to get a Marti Report. It will break down the numbers for you.

Remeber, being a Grabber color does not necessarily make it a Grabber Special. They were basically a poor mans Boss 302.

There were only 755 Q code Sportsroofs in 1970, that breaks down further as 393 automatics and 362 standards.

If the car is a true Grabber car then that's even more unique.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Any factory 428 would be a desirable car...not too many real big blocks in the world

Hmm, I really can't say either way. The "Mustang Red Book" doesn't get into that and Marti's "Mustang by the Numbers" you can't cross reference option packages to drivetrains, it doesn't break it down that far.

But, having me try to look that up brought something else up that I overlooked and didn't mention yesterday. The Grabber Special Value option package was only available on Sportsroofs......but you could still order a coupe, Sportsroof, or convert in a grabber color only. So that means it's possible to have a Grabber Green Sportsroof that that doesn't have the full Grabber package.

Here's what I'm talking about by looking at the "Mustang by the Numbers" book,

there were 5,120 Sportsroofs with the Grabber Special Value package, no coupes or converts.

but there were 1,114 Grabber Green painted coupes, 3,023 Sportsroofs and 82 converts.

Grabber Orange had 928 coupes, 4,655 Sportsroofs and 120 converts.

Grabber Blue had 2,555 coupes, 7,048 Sportsroofs and 268 converts.

The Grabber Option package was nothing more than a stripe package, It was developed to help promote the Grabber colors.

I have never seen any FE Grabber Special. I was always under the impression they were F or H code only.
