Smile Which Vendor for parts has the best prices- service counts too?

Like the title says- Which vendors do you use to get parts for older Mustangs?
There are quite a few as you know.

there are probably as many (if not more) vendors as there are parts,,it all depends on how intense and "true" you are going for, I have used National parts depot for good but not perfect restomodes, as well as the likes of "Larry's thunderbird and mustang parts" for truer resto's,, I have also baught whole cars looking for single true parts,,I am in that now as I needed a shock tower for my latest endevor. I have noticed most NOS parts are licensed to different dealers, so if yer lookin fer that "gotta have the right one" part your likely to need an original (donar car) or a good source, if your doing a restomod then ya have more moving room VS concors correct.
as per your list, again depends on what your finished goal is, I like Larry's for yer gas tank needs p # 9076A fer the gasket,,and #9047A fer the hose.. Ign and door lock sets for a 66 is M22050A as for their hinges I cannot say as I allways use originals, but their # at Larry's is 800 854 0393,, Good Luck and keep it rollin"

I get most of my parts from CJ Pony Parts and Tony Branda. I used to get some stuff from Mustang Unlimited but I refuse to buy anything from them anymore because their customer service is horrible.

I am not trying to make my car "correct", but I am trying to retain whatever possible that is correct.

My engine is being completely replaced, since the existing "remanufactured" is .060 over and the heads were not original.

So I guess this is a "restomod" as was called above.

I want to get the most for my money, and as was posted above there are several parts sellers.

"I want to get the most for my money, and as was posted above there are several parts sellers."

You will find that since most the parts come from only a few manufacturers that most dealers are selling the products for within a few dollars of each other. If you are looking for the one dealer that does not make any money on the parts they sell so they can undercut everyone else, they have already gone out of business.

Here is a good example:

1967 Ford Mustang Grille Bars
$107.95 New England Mustang
$109.95 CJ Pony Parts
$113.95 MAC's
$119.95 Texas Mustang
$129.95 Classic Mustang

You also have to consider the shipping cost sure New England May Cost less, but the shipping from the east coast may end up costing you more if you are on the west coast.

However, not one of these sites point out if the fog lamp bars you are getting are the USA Made Concourse Correct Models or the Super Cheap Asian Imports. That is where the real value differance is. Check out this video I just did showcasing the 67 GT fog lamp bar from the USA and the overseas import.

Default There are a lot of good places

There are some good places out there - there are a couple of things to consider here - especially since you say service counts too.

I have been involved in this hobby for many moons, and I have gotten parts from a lot of different vendors. I have seen a lot of rants about CJ's, MU, NPD, etc., some justified, some maybe not.

I can tell you that day in and day out Virginia Classic Mustangs has the best prices and great/arguably the best customer service. The only complaint I have heard about their customer service is that sometimes their phone is busy when trying to place an order. You can check out their website here - Home Page

Also for certain parts (Pertronix, humphugger consoles) I go to Ponderosa Mustang - Matt is a super guy and has the best prices on Pertronix ignitor systems and components. PonderosaMustang.com

Suspension - OEM type stuff anyway - Opentracker Racing Products
Opentracker Racing Products John knows his stuff and is great to deal with.

And - if I need some stuff fast (next day) I use Mustangs Unlimited (in Georgia) - but I usually call one of the sales guys on their extension and get them to process the order to make sure it goes out that day and that the item is in stock. I usually get the item the next day.
Mustangs Unlimited - The Premier Source for Mustang, Shelby and Cougar Parts and Accessories

I have gotten a few deals from CJ's off their ebay store, but you have to be careful - sometimes their auction prices are more than the regular price.
If you have to have body sheetmetal shipped, I have used Doc's Mustang when they have their annual sheet metal sale
Doc's Classic Mustang Parts for the 1964-1973 Ford Mustangs. but I usually prefer to pick it up from a store within an hour or two or three drive because the shipping is so much and the shippers tend to damage the parts.

NPD has some stuff you can't find other places, but I do not like the inconvenience of having to email and order in and get a quote two days later with prices that are usually higher than what was in the catalog. You end up wasting three or four days to get an order processed. (not really a slam against their customer service, just the way they do it, and their products are good)

My $.02

I have put these catalogs...

NPD
Paddock
Mustangs Unlimited
MACs
CJ Pony
Year One

and these Mustang Shops...

Mustang Corral (Edwardsville IL)
Gateway Classic Mustang (Bourbon MO)
Mid America Classic Mustang (St Charles MO)
Semo Mustang (Jackson MO)

all head to head on a 3 to $4000 order. Paddock and Gateway Classic came in the highest at about $4500 (shipping included). Mustangs Unlimited was the lowest catalog quote at about $3500 (shipping included). But Mustang Corral beat them at $3200. I pick up all the big stuff like doors, quarters, & hood and the "out of stock" stuff gets drop shipped to my house. I'm glad I did my homework. I had a similar experience with my first large order last year where Mustang Corral won the bid too. They were not lowest quote, but they worked with me the best. Customer service with all the other places seem to be about equall. Everyone helps for a question or two, but after about 5-10 minutes they other phones to answer or so on. Thanks to all the guys who spent that 5 to 10 minutes with me because, all in all, I learned alot, but Mustang Corral stuck with me until my questions where answered. I have to say Mustangs Unlimited spent alot of time with me on the phone too, but money does talk.

Years ago when the last project was carried out most of the gear I got was from Larry's. Looking at his prices now compared to the likes of CJ Mustang Parts he is still giving descent value. The thing I liked was that they sent a catalogue straight out to me in Australia- and it was here quick and then cross checking against others suppliers he was the same and in some cases cheaper so I recommend them.

Most my orders go to Virginia Classic and NPD. Both have decent prices and great customer service.
